The international students are being received by Kurdistan Universities for first time and the University of Zakho became the first university that organized this initiative, as the University of Zakho signed an academic and scientific agreement with the Mardin Artuklu University and received the thesis of the doctorial students. This agreement is one of the academic and scientific programs that the University of Zakho organized with the other Universities and Institutes. The University of Zakho in the presence of the president of the University of Zakho and vice president of the University for Students Affairs, the agreement was signed on the 2013 at the area of Turkish region and this agreement included the following conditions: 1. Exchange between faculties; 2. Exchange of students; 3. Exchange of teaching staff; 4. Participation in academic activities, conferences, panels, seminars, symposiums, and cooperation in the organization of such events; 5. Exchange of published academic materials and other information; 6. Special short- term academic programs. 7. This Agreement will last for a period of five years unless one of the two partner universities expresses a wish to cancel the Agreement. It is worth mentioning that the doctoral thesis of six graduated students received by the department of Kurdish language of the University of Zakho, according to the (split-site) system, and the committee that discuss the doctoral thesis is a mix between the two universities. Also three students from the University of Zakho were received by the Mardin Artuklu University with the same conditions. On Monday, February 20, 2017 at the occasion of the week of mother tongue, the department of Kurdish language of the University of Zakho, decided to discuss four doctoral thesis of the graduated students from Mardin Artuklu University according to the agreement, and this discussions will hold on Monday (20-02-2017) till Thursday (24-02-2017) at the Khalil khayali hall at the Faculty of Humanities, University of Zakho.
